Every student brought home Sunshine Math, ABC Geography, spelling and vocabulary. Ask them what they are suppose to do with their spelling. Don't try to do everything in one day. I planned activities to help your students learn and remember the concepts by the end of the week. If all the activities are completed on Monday there is no guarantee that your student really knows the work.
Spelling
Monday- pretest
Tuesday- create flashcards (I showed them how at school. If you would like a ziplock bag to keep them in for the week, I have some at school.)
Wednesday- using the cards created the day before have someone quiz you by saying the word and then you spelling it
Thursday- take another pretest so you can practice those last few words you keep missing
ABC Geography
Each student should have brought home an atlas today to help them with their geography. Each week the students receive a different letter of the alphabet. All of the answers begin with that letter. There are answers that fit the questions that do not start with the correct letter. Make sure you are paying attention to the letter of the week.
Sunshine Math
I understand that Sunshine Math is difficult. It is a program to stretch students thinking. I ask the students to try for 15 stars a week. They need to at least try one 4 star problem a week even if they cannot figure out the answer. We will have a study session of Fridays before we correct to clarify any confusions.
Vocabulary
There aren't any particular activities at home with these words. The students need to learn what is going to work for them to learn these 10 new words a week. Try flashcards, memory, drawing pictures, telling someone the words, etc. Figure out what works best for you.
