Work Ethic

All work is turned in on the assigned due date. Late work will not be accepted on projects that students know for one week or more of the due date. If a student is absent on a day when a project is due (e.g. book report, essay, science fair project, etc.) the project needs to be brought to school.
If the assignment was given the day before and the student "left it at home" it will recieve a dropped grade when the assignment is brought in. Until the assignment is brought in the student will be given a zero.

Homework Policy

Sixth grade students should have 60 minutes of homework a night. Each Monday students receive Sunshine Math, ABC Geography, spelling words and vocabulary words. These should be studied each night.
20 min. for Sunshine Math
10 min. for ABC Geography
10 min. spelling
10 min. Words Your Way spelling sorts
10 min. vocabulary

In addition to these 60 minutes, students should be reading 30 minutes of their book of choice at home. They can split this reading up throughout their morning or evening routine.

There also will be times when your student does not finish assignments in class. This then transfers to homework that comes back the next day. There will also be special projects that your student needs to learn to budget his or her time to complete and have ready to turn in on the due date. This blog will be updated throughout each week so due dates will be known to parents and a reminder for the student.
